It was a slow two weeks with only three entries on the deadline day. I thought there might not be a carnival this round, but realized how much many of us thrive on "deadlines."

The carnival appears a day late, as I spent most of the day it should have been published, searching out photojournalists blogging from the Olympics. I'm including a round-up links to their sites below the carnival. Lots of great stuff to read and see.

Furthermore, I plan to give this carnival idea its own site, feeling and RSS feed for the next round. www.photojournalismblogs.org (not active yet) will be the new home in three weeks hopefully. I'd love to keep recieving submissions and do a carnival type listing every couple weeks. I'm also planning to put together a comprehensive list of photojournalist blogs.

The Olympics haven't even begun and already there's a blogging furry by photojournalist in Beijing. Email me at randomshutterings@gmail.com if you know other links to photographer's Beijing Olympic blogs. Thanks

Toronto Star's Beijing 2008: Steve Russell, Lucas Oleniuk, Richard Lautens
"I was shooting some diving practice from a small window in the bottom of the pool and who knew that the divers swimsuit rode up and flew down so much when they hit the water. That's the real reason why they take so long to surface, they have to rearrange the wardrobe before getting out of the water." -Richard Lautens

The Newsweek's Dream Team Blog: Vincent Laforet, Donald Miralle and Mike Powell.
On his own blog Vincent says, "I must give a major nod to Newsweek and DOP Simon Barnett for making blogging as much of a priority as our making of photographs during these games."

Zach Honig's Behind the Lens at the Beijing Olympics for PopPhoto.com
"That's right folks -- after weeks of searching and even a couple close calls, I've finally found a bona fide can of Axe body spray. If this is your first visit to my Beijing Olympics blog, I'll fill you in on the significance of today's discovery..." As part of the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games Photo Services, Zach has been blogging for nearly a month now about his experience.

Kevin German's Wandering Light
"Because I am not officially credentialed I can barely step foot within a mile of the venues. Not a complete loss as my story is more about the people and culture, but it is frustrating trying to get around, just the same."

Sol Neelman's The Wild Weird World of Sports
"After shooting for over an hour, some of the volunteer security started to get very nervous and tried to get us further away from the scene. They first created a Human Great Wall. Didn't bother me because I'm way taller than them, simply shot over their heads."

Rod Mar's Best Seats in the House for The Seattle Times
"Finally the torch arrived. The runners, one of whom I was there to photograph, were surrounded on all sides by a security phalanx of young men who pushed back hard as the crowd surged to see. I was caught in the middle and found myself made into an American photojournalist sandwich."

Chris Detrick's blog for The Salt Lake Tribune
"Tomorrow, everything officially begins at 8:08.08 on 8/08/08 with the Opening Ceremonies. I will be there, sitting in section K, photographing the festivities."

Scott Strazzante's Olympic photo journal for the Chicago Tribune
"I ducked in and out of the relay and eventually found myself photographing Yao Ming as he carried the torch past a portrait of Mao Zedong."

Dan Powers' Blog from Beijing for the Post Crescent
"The place is huge and I must say that my chin has hit the floor a couple of times. For a guy from a small newspaper, this is very foreign."

Mark Terrill's Day Life for the Assoicated Press

Mark Rebilas' Olympics for AskthePhotographer.com
"So after over a year of planning and waiting I am about to leave the country for 3 weeks to cover the worlds biggest sporting event. One would think I'd be incredibly excited but to tell you the truth I feel like puking!"

George Bridges's personal Beijing Blog while working for McClatchy Newspapers at the Olympics
"I'm kicking myself now for not buying Daniel the little chain of kites the kids there were playing with. If you buy something from one vendor the others really start hitting you even harder than they do without buying so I was hesitant."

Jonathan Newton's The Games, Framed for the Washington Post
"Six-foot-tall imported models strutted around this totally hipster party at Lan that was hosted by Charles Zhang, CEO of Sohu.com, the first Olympics Internet business partner in history."
