Carnivals are like an online periodical to which bloggers submit past entries and an organizer collects the links to these submissions, edits, annotates if needed and publishes the resulting round-up on a blog in regular intervals.

Since I couldn't find a photojournalism blog carnival I set one up.

Blog carnivals are often dedicated to a theme such as “traveling Europe on a shoe string� or “20somthings personal finance�. In this case, I’ve made the theme “personal blogs of photojournalists�. I figured it might be worth putting current entries (month old or less) together in an every-other-week collection, sharing some the great stories and perspective about life and work.

Now I'd like to find photojournalists interested in contributing links to past blog posts every once and a while.

How to participate.

If you are a photojournalist or photo editor and have a personal blog entry that you’d like to share, please email the following to to randomshutterings@gmail.com by noon on Monday, July 7th, 2008 Eastern time.

1.) a link to your blog entry,
2.) a short description
3.) a geographic location if possible

The first edition of “Carnival of Photojournalism� is set to publish on www.randomshutterings.com around noon on Wednesday, July 9th.

If this project works and can get on its feet, I’d like other editors to publish the carnival on their blogs and have it travel around our community. Maybe that's why it’s called a “carnival.� If you’re interested in hosting down the road please email me.

Finally, one more important aspect to the blog carnival is letting your readers know about the carnival. Please try to put a link in a blog entry, after carnival has been published, if you submitted an entry. This will allow a blog’s individual readers to be exposed to the work of the rest of the group.
